Quick guide
What’s going on?
Pick what sounds closest. You get the safe first step and the right page.
A switch keeps tripping
What to do
Find the cause rather than resetting it
A switch that turns a circuit off is doing its job. Reset it once at most. If it trips again, leave it off, note which switch it is and what was on at the time, and tell us.
Burning smell or a hot socket
Urgent
Stop using it and keep people away
If there is smoke or fire, call 999 first. Do not touch anything that is hot, damaged or wet. Then call us: we take emergency call-outs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
No power at all
Urgent
Check whether it is just your property
If neighbours or street lights are off too, it is likely to be a power cut: call 105. If it is only your property, or a switch on your consumer unit is off and will not stay on, call us.
Flickering lights or a dead socket
What to do
Worth tracing before it gets worse
It can be a loose connection, a failing fitting or a fault on the circuit. Stop using a socket that is warm, crackles or smells. We trace the cause with tests, circuit by circuit.
A rented home needs its inspection
What to do
Inspection and testing, with a report
In England, a privately rented home needs its electrical installation inspected and tested at least every five years, and tenants get a copy of the report: the EICR.
Planning a rewire, extension or new lights
What to do
Bring the electrician in early
Cable routes and the positions of sockets, switches and lights are easiest to agree before walls are plastered. Send photos or a plan and we will tell you what is involved.
Business premises
What to do
Keep it running, and keep the records
Planned maintenance, emergency lighting tests and portable appliance testing keep premises safe and give you the records insurers and fire safety checks ask for.

Can you help with an urgent electrical problem?
Emergency call-outs available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call us on 020 3883 1321 and describe what is happening.
How do quotes work?
You tell us about the job, and we may ask a few questions or for photos. Some small jobs can be assessed from photos; larger jobs need a site visit or survey. Quotes are free. Some survey or diagnostic visits may be charged: ask when you book. You then receive a written quote, and nothing goes ahead until you approve it.
Do you work with landlords, managing agents and businesses?
Yes. We carry out inspections, remedial work, repairs and maintenance for rented, managed and commercial properties. When you enquire, tell us who arranges access (you, an agent, the tenant or a building manager) and who should receive the quote and the paperwork.
Will I receive a certificate for the work?
Where the work requires one, yes: an Electrical Installation Certificate for new circuits and installations, a Minor Works certificate for smaller alterations, or an Electrical Installation Condition Report for inspections.
Is sending an enquiry the same as booking?
No. An enquiry lets us understand the job. We will contact you to discuss it, and dates are only confirmed once you have accepted a quote and we have agreed them with you.
